Cloudsabove most of the methane absorption appear whitewhilst the very highest appear yellow-red. Areaswhich also absorb blue light appear green. Theplanets equatorial jet stream appears as a darkblue band at upper centre. The gas in this jettravels at 1440 km per hour.

Also known as Mayall s Object, this structure is the result of a collision between two galaxies. The result of the collision was an elongated galaxy (left) and a ring-shaped galaxy (right), the two shapes caused by the shockwaves produced by the collision. Arp 148 is 500 million light years from Earth, in the constellation of Ursa Major. This image was published in 2008.

The river carries a large amount of sediment, which has led to the development of several silt islands. The edges of these are green as they have been colonised by mangroves.
